The Solstice of the Winter

Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice

Tis the solstice of the winter
When the days are dark and long;
The light is dim and the air is cold
The north wind blows a lonely song.

The sun hangs low in the distant sky
Snow blankets the ground of frost;
Ice forms on top of the lakes and ponds
As the warmth from the sun feels lost.

Bring on the winter months with glee
This is the season that keeps us chilly;
Sip a hot drink or a warm bowl of soup
Do something that makes you feel silly.

Trust the daylight will increase again
In the upcoming months of the New Year;
Fill your spirit with joy and laughter
Celebrate this winter solstice with cheer.

Accept the Path You have Taken

Accept the Path You have Taken

Accept the Path You have Taken

Accept the path you have taken
For that is the road you have chosen;
The path may not be perfect
Accept that it may stir some emotion.

Accept the moment that is given
For that is all you can control;
The moment may not be as you expected
Accept it down deep in your soul.

Accept the body you live in
For that is what you have molded;
The look may not be what quite you wanted
Accept that your wonderful life has unfolded.

Accept all that has been given to you
For this is what you have unconsciously asked for;
Be thankful for all that has come your way
Accept these gifts as they should not be ignored.

The Portrait of a Human

A Portrait of a Human

A Portrait of a Human

A portrait of a human
The expression on his face;
Does it really mater
What ancestry of the race.

The beauty in this portrait
Provides comfort from his soul;
The wisdom he has gained
From the years of stories untold.

Peace has descended upon this man
As he ages with amazing peace;
Life is a wonder of miracles
That never seems to cease.

We gain wisdom from his smile
And comfort from his grace;
Learn from our ancestors
What else can we embrace?

Spring Beauty

Spring Beauty

Spring Beauty

These daffodils pop up from the earth
To welcome the warmth of the sun;
Tis an early sign from nature
That warmer days are yet to come.

Bright yellow blossoms greet the eye
Upon their long sturdy green stems;
Flowering bulbs of the Spring season
Oh how we always welcome them.

Cut a few to bring indoors and admire
What a cheerful sight to see;
Yellow glowing colors stand out
Providing nature’s beauty to thee.

A cheerful message these flowers send
That this day is as precious as the next;
A moment of time not to go unnoticed
For life is not meant to be so complex.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

Tis Christmas Day full of good memories
Of all the wonderful times that have past;
With the special gifts from loved ones
And thoughts that will forever last.

The tree is brilliantly lit with glow
With the wrapped presents down under;
Patiently awaiting to be opened
In awe of this Christmas season wonder.

A fire warms the chilly room
With dancing flames that endlessly glow;
Waiting for people to gather
To celebrate with laughter and a HOHO.

Snow gently falls from the sky
Blanketing the ground with white;
Nature’s gift to cleanse the soul
And offer this gift of light.

Blessings shine upon a glorious day
As we celebrate it with a loved one;
The future is bright in this warm winter light
For all the New Year days yet to come.

Dawn of the Day

Dawn of the Day

Dawn of the Day

The dawn begins this day
Day for I know not what lies ahead
Ahead is the moment to be enjoyed
Enjoyed while time passes on
On this day I make a promise
Promise to cherish each minute
Minute to give thanks for this life
Life is a gift so make it count
Count not the minutes of the day
But all the blessings that have come my way.

Wake Up to Enjoy the Day

Wake up to Enjoy the Day

Wake up to Enjoy the Day

Wake up with a smile this morning
Shout out “GOOD DAY” with a scream;
This day is worth opening your eyes
Do not spend any more time in your dream.

Sun shines brightly to the morning light
And the blue skies become alive;
Trust your instinct as the day breaks
Today will be an awesome day to rise.

Seek to find the dream that awaits,
To the golden skies of the west.
It rides upon your left shoulder
Take notice to its special interest.

It will grab you by surprise
Perhaps you may feel quite strange;
Be prepared with positive thoughts
As you accept this awesome change.
